tooth trouble.

I have two really, really bad teeth. I have a dentist's appointment on tuesday, any ideas how to relieve the pain?

I am taking paracetemol, (500mg) and I have tried up to 400mg Ibuprofen. I have also experimented with the only toothache specific treatment, Clove oil, which is revolting. I don't think I am doing it right, as I get no relief.

I am in agony, this has been ongoing for some time, and some days I have no trouble at all, but others I am in constant pain for days and nights. The pain is shooting through my gums too, and at times it feels as though my neck and arm is suffering??!? Am I imagining this?

Please help, I can't sleep!!

There should be emergency dentists who would see you ASAP, your local doctors should have details about it.

I feel for you, as I know how agonising toothache can be! :frown:

Take ibuprofen as often as it is allowed, theres not much else you can do really. Ive tried clove oil and yes its gross, but I didnt get any relief from it.

Phone your dentist first thing on Mon and say that you need to be seen that day, and that you cant wait until Tues. Alternatively you can phone an emergency one tomorrow, but expect be charged quite a lot if you decide to go and see them that day

Hope you feel better soon and manage to get it sorted!
Unfortunately, Tuesday is the soonest I can see anyone.

It's partly my own fault, I haven't made time to go to my last check up, but at the time, I wasn't really suffering as much.

Is there a reason for that, work or school etc?
Yup, I had a course I really didn't want to miss. I cancelled it properly and rearranged for next week, but got it moved to Tuesday.

I kind of procrastinate, as like a lot of people, I really fear the dentist, stupid I know.

The time before that, I missed my appointment as I was preoocupied, with my mother going into ICU, and I left it then.

I have to have her (mother) come with me.

If you've got some clove lying about, take one and hold it between your teeth for a while. It helps a tiny bit- better than clove oil anyway
Hmm, I will have to have a look in my vegetable rack! Thanks!

Any more advice (badly needed)!?!

I am in this spot too. One of my wisdom tooth cracked. I didn't anything about it. Months later it start to become black (i wasn't suprised since there was pocket there where food would go in). It was in pain couple of weeks ago. It was really painful. I started to chomp on Paracetmol and Ibuprofen until the pain went away. After a week it went away.

Now I'm pondering where to go to the dentist. I don't want to have to pay for tooth extraction.

I'm not sure if this will help; my wisdom tooth is currently trying to grow and the pain was killing me. I found this mouth gel that has Lignocaine in it- a local anaesthetic. I feel so much better, obviously:biggrin:
I don't know if it will help with the toothache, but worth a try?
Heh, I haven't actually chewed paracetemol as a friend did that by accident and their mouth went numb?

Also, they taste rank!

I have no idea- I found the gel lying about.
You could ask at the pharmacy counter though, I suppose, if they have something similar- something with lignocaine in it? A teething gel perhaps?
OK, thank you!
