International Relations/Security Studies: UCL or SOAS

Hello everyone,

I'm sure the question has been asked before so apologies for that.

If you had the choice between MSc Security Studies at UCL and SOAS International Politics (Both are MSc)- what would you pick and why? Has anyone applied to one of these programmes?

Thank you!
UCL is better for the international reputation, although SOAS isn't far off and seems to have a better atmosphere. In my opinion, International Relations as a whole seems like a better course than Security Studies. What sort of career are you looking at?

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm not sure what I want to do post master - probably why I struggle making up my mind. I could potentially work as a political risk analyst but ideally I guess I'd like to join an international organisation. The courses are very different (UCL seems more practical a lot of emphasis is put on research methods) while SOAS allows to specialise on one specific region (while offering a course on international theory). Given that I'm not sure what I want to do would you recommend the broader master ie international politics?

Thank you!
