I had my mdx tests today and i must say one of the bests as you get to use the calculator. Advise is bring a scientific calculator that can add, subract and multiply fractions. I was able to answer all my questions expect one ALGERBRA question 😩 didn't think it will even come up but thank god its was only one.

I looked at some youtube videos from a maths specialist from mdx and she shows you how to set your calculator, how to change a fraction to decimal on your calculator and add, subtract and all that. TRUST ME ALL I LEARNT FROM THE VIDEOS came up on the test so I'm happy i watched it. Some people brought basic calculators which are a bit limited to some calculations.

The username of the lady who did the videos is 'ellsmdx' she has 6 videos on YouTube all useful.

This other video shows you how to work out some difficult questions on the scientific calculator. MUCH WATCH 'Using a scientific calculator' by lambeth academy.

if you do not know how to add, subtract fractions or find a percentage on the calculator please watch the videos.

I had 40 maths multiple choice questions you need 30/40

English there is two scenario questions you pick the one you want to answer. Fairly easy.

Maths was pretty long though but easy I got an hour to complete both test papers.

Long post but hope this helps. Now waiting on City and Kingston selection day 😇
Thanks for this Hun really appreciate it

I applied at the beginning of December. Had my tests for LSBU on 9th Jan and heard back on 20th (with a date of tomorrow for the interview however I already have one tomorrow so they pushed it back to March :/). City were the last ones to give me a test day which was on 8th Jan and then took over 2 weeks to get back to me about an interview after that. I definitely think if you haven't heard anything then it's a good sign, means they are still thinking about your application and when to give you a date.

If we both get into LSBU or City means we'll be in the same branch though
Hey, I finally got an assessment session day with City could you please tell me how their process runs as in the email it says you are invited to an assessment session then if passed will be invited to another selection day.

Is there a interview or not? a bit confused

Hey, you have to attend the test first and they'll get back to you if you pass to come in for an interview. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me, been a week now since I did the test.

The assessment day is the tests, this is Numeracy and Literacy and an Aptitude test. The Selection Day is the interview.

Everyone at Buck's was really nice and welcoming We had group and individual interviews that were both pretty short and flew by quickly. They weren't scary at all, don't worry. I got an offer from Buck's within 24hours. However I withdrew my application as I got offers from King's and City and they are closer to where I am going to live for my PGDip so they are my firm and insurance choices.

Let me know if you need any more help

Obviously I cant go into any detail about the questions but they are ones you would expect. It was an individusl interview and they sent out my offer in less than 24hours which was quick of them

Hello Thank you for your answer. I am a bit nervous I got 3 interviews and I am scared I will not get into anywhere heh... My experience is only 2 years volunteer at elderly home and one month internship in psychiatric hospital.. I do not think so it is enough, because I am a social worker and did not gain any professional experience . And What about references? Did u provide references from employers?

Hi guys, I have had the maths and english assesments with city and middlesex here are my thoughts:

Firstly bring a scientific calculator and know how to convert fractions into decimals on it n vice versa. The scientific calculator (not basic cheap1) will work out bodmas and allow you to multiply/divide fractions without wasting time doing it in your head.

The city maths test was extremely easy you dont need to practise at all. The english test was also very basic. There is a further test you have to sit which will assess how you respond in clinical situations this for me was a bit harder but still fine.

The middlesex paper was slightly harder than city's but if you prepare you will be fine. Study the following topics bodmas, fractions, ratios, decimals and mean.

I recommend arriving on time however both uni's were relaxed with people arriving late n city even gave them longer to finish the paper.

I have southbank on saturday I will update soon.

    Best of luck

Hey, I only got an invite for interviews from both MDX and City last week and I did both my tests the last week in Jan so they do take time to get back to you. Just keep checking your inbox and junk mail.
