Well, I couldn't possibly fraternise with The Enemy anyway, so it's no great loss on my part. I dread to think what would happen if they tried to do that column here!

Are Cambridge really that pushed for talent?

Well, I'm sure they could manage one boy and one girl from the colleges. But it is a sad fact that when my friend's sister looked at our matriculation photo, her comment was "Wow, your year is full of really pretty girls and really ugly men!" Sorry Clare 1st year - I love you all really, but there is a grain of truth in it :frown:

There is only one person to blame here. Afterall, you had the chance to attend the refuge for godesses and neo-Adonises which sits beside the Cherwell and you chose not to. Which Cambridge college(s) is/are famed for being populated by handsome guys and beautiful ladies?

Heh, clearly you weren't around a few weeks ago when all the current Oxonians were fighting over who was the ugliest. Apparently that's another area where they beat us again.

And I'm not sure about any particular college with a reputation for having particularly gorgeous men/women - I know where mine are, but I am fairly certain that's not the general answer!

Haha, I guess my views on Oxford have been somewhat skewed by these photographs. If we widen the competition though (based solely on what has been said on this forum and a few other things) once we factor in Brookes versus APU, who wins on aggregate?

I couldn't possibly say - I don't know anyone at APU, and I've only been to Oxford once (and it was full of boaties that day so may have given an unfairly favourable impression ). Tis an interesting question though.

Oh, if only I could be given responsibility for generating a newspaper uni league table. I would make sure that, as well as all the meaningless statistics, it had a revolutionary TPACA weighting system (Things People Actually Care About). It would be sure to include some kind of commentary on the state of the bar, average size of rooms, attractiveness of incumbents etc.
I can just Imagine the oxbridge dons asking Mobbdeeprob *So...why did you choose us then?"

"Well judging for the openday, this college seemed to have the highest population of attractive people. Yeah, I know, I know, you've never had a prospective student that's got his priorities so right have you?"

Though from his posts, I'd say he was itching to apply for the college in closest proximity to st. hilda's.

I should be commended, afterall, I'm taking a wider view - rather than just scouring through applications/places ratios, the Norrington table etc. I've adopted a personal approach! You never know, it may surprise them, and if my ramblings don't, then hopefully the dress and heels will. Or else I will have to hunt F Poste down with the sharp point of a stilletto, sometime around Christmas.

*Shhhhhhhh!!!* Don't tell them that before they get here, they're still under the illusion that Oxford is a beautiful city; they don't know that really the students ming almost as much as the Isis.

And what of the Brookes folk, are they any easier on the eye and do they ever venture into the heart of the ancient city?

You don't really see many, they live miles away. Generally they seem more attractive than Oxford students, in my experience.
Everything that I've read about Oriel on here sounds generally shite, and along with New - those were the two places that I was considering the most. I want to go somewhere which is fairly relaxed, middle-ranging in terms of academia, has a good bar and is famed for sociable students...am I on to losers with Oriel and New?
Surprised you've heard bad stuff about New, it's a nice place. Oriel is notoriously the most right-wing college - the number who are members of OUCA (uni conservative association) is now in triple figures, and they're the only undergrad college disaffiliated from the (perceived as left-wing) student union. Will definitely suit some but not others...

Then wtf is it doing twinned with my college?

Oh and people choosing colleges based on fitness of inhabitants - remember that an in-college relationship will be viewed as public entertainment by half the college, and unless you are very careful, you can kiss goodbye to privacy. Enjoy.

oh, you become old news after 5 months or so

although the first time i was woken at 5.50am by a knock on my door & the boat club captain (who i'd never actually met) standing there to pick up the other half for a morning outing was a surprise..
You don't have gossip columns in your college papers do you?
