Everything that I've read about Oriel on here sounds generally shite, and along with New - those were the two places that I was considering the most. I want to go somewhere which is fairly relaxed, middle-ranging in terms of academia, has a good bar and is famed for sociable students...am I on to losers with Oriel and New?

Oh, and New College have a Legolas wannabe rowing for their M1 - it made me giggle at least

although the first time i was woken at 5.50am by a knock on my door & the boat club captain (who i'd never actually met) standing there to pick up the other half for a morning outing was a surprise..

The advantage Pete has is that he's been coxing the Tideway since he was 14, so knows where the fast water is. Both are good though, Acer was just being to aggressive, it's one of those thing which looks obvious from the helicopter, but not so from the water level.

Fair enough, assumed name like that implied Americaness in some way. I still hold my totally unjustified, baseless and ignorant view that Oxford would've won this year if Hackworth had been coxing.
