CCEA Metaphysical Poetry

Is anyone here doing English literature Metaphysical poetry? It's on the Northern Ireland board so I'm not really expecting any replies but I though I'd try anyway.

I'm starting to revise for my poetry and everyone has told me to learn a few love poems, few religious ones and a couple of death one so I'm planning on;

Love:
The Flea
Good Moro
Sunne Rising
Anniversaire

Religious:
Easterwings
Jordan 1+2
The Collar
The Pulley

Death
Batter my heart
Since she whom I lov'd

Soooo is this enough? Any suggestions? I need all the help I can get! :s-smilie:

Hey I am doing the same as you too. I think I will learn exactly the same poems cause it would be too much to lean them all and my teacher has not even finished all the poems yet.
Ahh! the exam is tomorrow and I only have Batter my heart done because I have known it for years anyway :s-smilie: Hopefully can use the seen poem form either question to answer one of the two questions...

WHAT? You learnt all of those?

We were told to learn roughly around 6 poems off by heart, and I learnt four, five at a push.

How did you think the exam went?

I did John Donne for my English Literature poetry module and had to learn 'The Flea' and 'Sunne Rising' amongst about 10 others. I actually quite enjoyed that module. You're on a different exam board as me, but I can pretty much guarantee they'll be looking for the same kinds of things. Just talk about the travel, medicine, religion astronomy, literature etc of the time - Anything that was new and exciting at that point is bound to score you marks, as well as talking about love and death etc. Wit is important - mention the use of wit in language, especially imagery.

Good luck. I got 95% on this and actually was near the bottom of my class marks wise haha - the whole set did very well, and so it can't have been a particularly tough one. =]]

Hi all, I am taking the metaphysical and unseen poetry unit tomorrow.

I am learning some of the poems but don't want to learn them all so I am looking at the recent past papers to see which ones are less likely to come up this year.

The 2008 papers have not been disclosed yet on the net, if anyone could help me by telling me which poems/themes came up in 2008 I would be most grateful!

Thanks
