Hi guys. I've just gotten my CIE AS result today, my Maths result is really disappointing. (Pure Maths 1 and Stats 1)

Although I've scored an A (87 Percentage Uniform Mark) but I really wanted an A* in Maths!

Should I retake it? Because I've heard my friends say that for A* grade I have to achieve 90+ in AS. Is that true? Do i still have a chance?

I really need advice from u guys.. thanks in advance..

For an A* you need 80% average overall with 90% at A2.

No, you just have to score over the a* threshold (if you score more than this threshold, UMS is more than 90). You can find out threshold for past papers by searching 'cie mathematics grade threshold'

The threshold is only about the total raw mark so even if you get B in AS exam,it's still possible to get A*.. So, '80% average overall and 90% with A2' doesn't apply for CIE A-LEVEL.

In addition, UMS is not the percentage for raw mark out of total mark, the UMS is calculated based on threshold.

No, those are the rules for uk not CIE.
I think the CIE rule is an overall average of 90% but I'm not an expert, you should check with your teacher.
