You get them for free? :O I have to pay for mine since I turned 18 two years ago :frown:

Anyway, I think that should be ok, it isn't specified on the prescription is it?

If you're a student there's a form you can fill in to apply for free prescriptions in England. It's sort of income-assesed, but worth a try. Ask at your GP surgery for a form.

Reply 3

It's fine. I've often done what you're asking :P

You mean I have been unnecessarily paying for prescriptions for two years??

Reply 6

Those forms include your student loans though I think, I tried to fill one out for help with dentist fees but no luck

Reply 7

yes you can do that.
You could also get your mum to pick them up for you, and send them to you in the post - if you're lazy

This is the HC11 form that you need to fill in to apply for reduced prescription fees in England. Just because you're a student doesn't mean that your application will be accepted, you have to justify further why it's necessary.

anyway, have a look through it.

You can pick up your prescription anywhere and if you're a student it's free regardless I thought... I know it is free in Wales for students and Wales just make it free for everyone upto the age of 25 (IIRC). Just tick the I'm in full-time education box.

Reply 14

I think the full time education box only applies when your under 18

Reply 15

In England it's only free if you're a student who is 18 (or below) in full time education. Once you're passed 18, you need to show other evidence that comes under catagories in the HC11 form.

In Wales, yes it's free regardless.

Dont you have to have that welsh prescription card to get them free in wales? To prove you live in wales?

Reply 17

Nope - I've gotten my prescription in England and gone to a pharmacy in wales and have had no problem at all.

Reply 18

Hmm we used to do that but then they changed it so that you have to have a welsh prescription card otherwise you have to pay
