    How important is the personal statement for history applicants?

    It is extremely important for all applicants. It is not less important for certain subjects.

    As History is a more conventional degree I imagine they expect a pretty good one. For Human Sciences (the course I applied for) they told me they didn't give the PS too much weight because they recognised that so many applicants were applying for quite different courses at other Unis. Obviously it has to be very well written regardless. At interview I saw mine on the table highlighted and annotated.
