    1. Oxford
    2. Imperial College
    3. Cambridge
    4. UCL
    5. Bristol / LSE
ICL above Cambridge? UCL above LSE?

Bristol doesn't really fit in the "top 5", it's with Durham/Warwick and whatnot in terms of grouping. Maybe UCL should be added to that group as well.

Yeah ICL above Cambridge for definite except for one or two odd courses ie Natural Sciences, Medicine. And for definite UCL is a better university in general to LSE. QS world rankings list UCL in the top 5. LSE is only good for limited fields. LSE is not a top 5 uni really, in general Bristol is better.

cardiff is a top 5 uni for research and is third for medicine!

so this just proves that the whole "top five" doesnt work. it depends what its based on!
This must be a joke. Cardiff isn't a top 5 anything. Just being good for medicine means nothing, especially since their are barely 15 med schools. It has literally zero international rep.

I was with you until you stuck Bristol with LSE. That's absurd. Bristol has no where near as good a reputation (on the basis of the aforementioned factors) as the London School of Economics.

Similarly, Imperial is brilliant (hence I put it in my top 5), but it isn't better than Cambridge. Cambridge is immensely wealthy and prestigious.

It's important to bear in mind that this 'top 5' list isn't supposed to take account of minor fluctuations whereby one University is better for a particular subject than another. On the whole, Cambridge is more prestigious than Imperial.

As I said before, I disagreed with him and his ranking.

However, saying it has "nowhere near as good a reputation" is incredibly immature. That can only be said about Oxbridge, possibly.

The difference between LSE and Bristol/Durham/Warwick and whatnot is definitely not significant. Not even close.

    In this order:

    Cambridge
    Oxford
    Imperial
LSE For only its Economics/Economics related degrees
    Warwick/UCL

Although I would argue that LSE econ is equal to Cam econ and Ox ppe

Warwick gives offers out like candy.

and that it is harder to get in to warwick maths then oxford Lol/

Lol no. Warwick is not better than Durham and Bristol for the vast majority of its courses.

And it's definitely not more difficult to get into than Oxford.

What's UCL even good for apart from medicine related subjects? Check out threads right here on tsr of people saying how bad their engineering dept is. No wonder it's only AAB for Chem Eng at UCL and A*A*AA at Imperial.

Regardless, all that matters is that you go to an IB target. There's no order.

    Cambridge
    Oxford
    LSE
    Imperial
    Warwick
    UCL.

because they're deluded and the Warwick defenders on TSR have succeeded in their propaganda.

Warwick is good, but don't make me laugh by saying it has any significant international brand image. Very very few people know what Warwick is outside of the UK.

dont get me wrong, it has its specialisms, namely maths/econ, for which it is in the top 5, but reputation wise/overall it isn't close to the top 5.

As stated above, Warwick is virtually unknown outside the UK. It has no where near as much funding, history and general clout as UCL.

Makes no difference to employers.. a degree is a degree.

So if I get a degree in Criminology at the University of Lincoln, is that on par with a degree in Maths at Cambridge?

seriously check the league tables cardiff is number 5 for research, and is number 3 for medicine (below oxbridge). its not a joke, and there are tonnes of med schools (pretty sure its over 50 now and universities like manchester and kings are much lower down for medicine)

what im trying to say, and using cardiff as an example is that its incredibly varied depending on course and things like that.

plus cardiff has a HUGE international population.

    London Met?
It's funny when people say Durham though, because some of them are actually serious.
