Actions speak louder than words.

Do they?

I've been wondering about this lately.

For example, if someone says you mean a lot to them but doesn't act accordingly, would you consider that their words outweigh their actions? Similarly, if someone acts kindly around you but is verbally quite offensive, do their nice actions outweigh their harsh (tongue-in-cheek?) words?

Personally, I think actions do speak louder than words. A lot louder. I think the reason behind this is that it's very hard to act deceitfully (i.e. pretending to like someone but not actually doing so), but it's quite easy to say words that you might not mean. So something like "I love you" is very easy to say, but to act accordingly is very hard.

Then again, I suppose you can’t measure actions and words on the same scale. It’s apples and oranges. A few nice words don’t compensate treating someone like ****, but talking very kindly to someone for long periods of time could compensate being otherwise a bit cold around them.

I can't sleep at the moment and am just musing. Comments?

I have a bf who says i mean a lot to him but doesnt act accordingly. As for the other way round, most people who are verbally offensive act as such

Of course actions mean louder than words. Anyone can assemble a cheap sentence together.

They most certainly do. Words can quite easily be lies or not meant, actions are totally different.
