Im in a secondary school which is like 230th in the country but I applied to a sixth form which is 30th in the country and was accepted. Should I go or should I stay at my current schools sixth form ?. Do you reckon its better because students are just smarter there or because the teaching quality is better?

I went from an ordinary school to a top grammar school - currently there doing my a levels.
I personally don't think the teaching is allll that much better at top schools than at good non-grammar school. It's more so the students are smarter.
However a top school has waaay more opportunities & aid this will help you for when you come to applying to uni.
Also because everyone does well, you will strive more to do well.
I used to be embarassed in my old school to get top grades as it was weird and you stand out but at my current school getting top grades is the norm and people are more so praised for it.
The work ethic atmosphere is better at a top school and you will most likely aim for higher there (because everyone else is) than probably at your current school.
So YES I would recommend it greatly to go to a top school

have you factored in the "leaving your friends from current school behind " bit? To me , I'd find that more important than a school's ranking

Ah fair enough , but generally I'd say go for it. I've applied for an international school that's way better than my current school , mainly because it's just better. So , if you want to go for it , go for it. Although 200 and something in the ranking is still pretty high considering how many schools there are around the UK , so your current school can't be that academically bad.
