German 'der' in IPA

Hey everyone.

I do a module on Linguistics at uni, in which we have to learn IPA, and I am a bit confused as to how 'der' is transcribed. I have seen both [de:R] and [dE:R] (apologies for the improper symbols, I couldn't get the upside-down R or curley E). The pronunciation [dE:R] sounds correct to me, but my teacher has given me some examples in which it has been transcribed [de:R]. Which is correct?

Thank you in advance

The www.pons.eu dictionary ( http://en.pons.com/translate?q=der&l=deen&in=ac_de&lf=de&cid= ) gives the IPA transcription as: [de:̯ɐ].
