My taste is quite broad; punk/pop rock, hip hop/rap, grime, r&b, deep house, some pop (only some o.o) and whatever this is: https://youtu.be/edhAx-p0qKY

I get why people like Maiden - powerful catchy riffs. Metallica and the like have powerful riffs but they're rarely catchy. It's all CHUG CHUGH ChUG "YEAH YEAAAH" CHUG CHUG CHUG to me.
Motorhead. Far superior to Metallica and the same kind of style (if you take their more mid-tempo stuff).

There's no taking away from Iron Maiden. It's a bit operatic for my tastes, but those boys can play.

    Jazz-funk fusion.

But if I'm feeling open minded I might go for some Funk-jazz fusion.

Anyway, getting back on topic, I'd say my favourite genres are blackened folk metal and atmospheric black metal. I find regular folk metal a bit too cheesy and a lot of regular black metal boring. Tonight I've been listening to Eternity by Askival, which was the original blackened folk metal project by Andy Marshall before he formed Arsaidh and then later renamed it Saor which is how 99% of the fans know the band today.
I struggled with Askival, but I can't put my finger on why. I loved Roots (Arsaidh), so I might have to go back and listen to Askival again with the hope that that incarnation will grow on me.

I love that band purely for the unpronounceable and absurdly lengthy song names.

And the contrast in this one.
