    Hi guys!

In a few weeks ill be a second year MH Nursing student and im starting to think about my elective placement which happens the start of my third year. Im quite unsure as to places to go here in the UK and also abroad. This is why i want to start thinking about it now.

Has anybody done their elective and have any advice or is anyone else thinking about theirs and have any good ideas?

Id love to do my placement in broadmoor but from what I understand its very hard to get your placement there so im trying to look in other avenues that are maybe more "realistic".

I dont mind either in the UK or abroad and im thinking of maybe working in forensics/prison/inpatient acute environment.

If anyone has any ideas or advice that would be a great help!

    Thanks!

I did forensic sci with an interest in mh originally and it's really interesting area. Have you considered the other 2 high secure units in the UK? Ashworth is Merseyside and Rampton in Nottinghamshire, there's also one near Glasgow I believe, they're just not as well known as broadmoor. Or forensic units I believe there's a few of them dotted round the country. Also places for children/ adolescents who have committed crimes they're called training centres I think.
There's quite a few places if you Just Google them really, I've come across a few too that specialise in things such as working with offenders who have committed sexual offences amongst other things. So yeah there's stuff out their, just have a look around online really and see what comes up.
