So I am driving from Newcastle to York next week and I don't know whether to go via the A19 or the A1? I'm just nervous about going on a motorway for the first time since it's about 80 miles and I'll be on my own. Even if I go via the A19 I'll need to goon the A1 but only for like 5 miles so am unsure. Any advice appreciated!! 😩

I would use the a19 to avoid the roadworks near the metro centre

A1. Remember that on a motorway you always have the option of trundling along in the slow lane, at a safe speed at least anyway. (Not 30mph).

Better than feeling pressured by traffic tailing behind you.

Either way just relax, drive safe and you'll be fine

Thank you, I think it's just joining it that I'm worried about but I guess once you're on you're on. 😊

Just look at what's in the lane you want to join as early as possible, check just before actually joining and don't try to force your way in. If people are too selfish to let you in it's annoying, but not worth causing an accident over.

Annoying how some people seem to think they have right of way to join a motorway, even if they're going slower than the cars in the lane are and there's no room to move!
