I became good friends with a guitarist of another band, but generally I didn't really like socialising much I'd just go straight to the bar where our friends were.

I know some of the other members started talking to promoters for local venues and other bands, but networking really isn't my thing and ironically I hate noisy indoor areas so I'd get out ASAP

I totally agree with you about the "sheep" thing as well. So many metalheads do the same thing. There's only a select few bands you're "allowed" to like and if you like other things you're a poser or a sheep. The narrow mindedness gets on my nerves
I'm very sociable but I found people like that hard to get on with ngl

The networking seems OK there's a lot of cliquiness going on though which mixes with the music business and is annoying.

I thought metalheads were relatively laid back  Which bands are you "meant" to like by some people?

If you feel that this could lead to worse, it's not an overreaction. I'd just ignore it if I were you and if it gets worse then take action.
Im sure hes not going to stalk me or something Though even before we were introduced he kept staring me down across the room when at parties and not smile back or anything when I smiled. It was creepy

Late 20's and he's behaving like that? **** people never grow up do they... Clearly we're all a bunch of big kids
I think he is particularly immature

The cool, laid back one's are some of my favourite people, but a significant number of metalheads can be insufferable at times

Pantera's the main one, Iron Maiden's another, all the classic metal bands really. I think there's a larger list of thing's you aren't allowed to like haha Avenged Sevenfold, new Slipknot, new In Flames, new Metallica, new Opeth, new... well you get the point lmao.

Most of my metal friends do hate Avenged Sevenfold haha, and some of the "new" ones as you say aren't seen as "hardcore" enough, but that's more by the general music people I know who happen to listen to metal, not hardcore metal fans
