In what way have they improved your self confidence?

I have been wearing contacts for 5 years.

Last week, the eye doctor at Specsavers said my new make of contacts had damaged my cornea a bit, and I need to wear my glasses for a week so it can go back to normal - and I'll change the make of my contacts as well.

I bloody hate every minute of it. They keep falling off my nose, they're under my prescription anyway since, as I only wear them before going to bed and before getting ready in the morning, I never bothered to have new ones made, they keep getting dirty, I look like a geek in them... I could go on ranting for ever. Can't wait for the appointment on Wednesday, and he'd better tell me I can wear contacts again.

Contacts are a gift from God, my friend.

Doing sports is so much easier. And I guess as a kid they did add to my confidence as well, because at school kids with glasses were called four-eyes and whatnot :frown: Nowadays at university though I apparently look smarter if I wear glasses

:dito:

I feel more confident going out to night clubs etc. with my contacts in
Contacts are waaaaay better than glasses. Ever since I've switched, I've gained more confidence. It's awesome too cuz it's more comfortable.

Wearing contact lenses means you dont have the whole problem when it rains and you get spots all on your glasses then you walk inside and they steam up! That was sooo annoying. :p:

I guess they have improved my confidence as you dont have the whole glasses barrier and people dont know your wearing them.

They are comfortable and i prefer them to glasses any day

I like contacts. ;yes; I'm all excited today 'cos I just got delightful new astigmatism-correcting ones and I can see so much better than with the other ones.

They do improve my self-confidence as I feel prettier with them in.

If I wear glasses I feel like that's the first thing people notice about me...I guess contacts improve my self-confidence incredibly!

yes. i love the coloured ones. when i wear my glassess i feel frumpy so normally i dont waer anything. but when i wear my lenses i think they look gorgeous, my lenses are green and i feel much more attractive. i think wearing lenses is even more attractive than going eye-commando with nothing, as teh lens makes the colour of the iris look deeper, even the clear lenses.
i go eye-commando most of the time because enses dry out if i study in front a computer more than 10 hours a day

I agree with theshrimp - I want people to notice me and not my glasses- hence I've been wearing contacts for 6 years now. In that time I've only worn my glasses for about 5 days which just goes to show how much I rely on them. Wearing contacts I'm so confident, however with glasses I feel like an ugly geek who's not worth the time of day so I have no confidence and am not my usual self.

If I didn't have contacts I definately wouldn't be the confident person I am today

I first got them when I was about 15 and back then it really improved my confidence becuase I didn't feel like the "dorky girl" anymore hiding behind her glasses and books. 3 years on I wear contacts and glasses equally, probally becuase I love my glasses. But somdays I want to look and feel pretty and lets face it, if you're already having an awfull day wearning glasses doesnt help!!
I love it, I started wearing them when I was 15, now i am 21... I am really really used to them. I dun think it neccessarily improved your confidence, but makes life so much easiler... esp. I really need them when I am taking photos...

Sadly I've been told by Specsavers that they dont' do a contact lens that goes with my prescription because i've got a weird astigmatism, so i CAN'T have
contacts. I'm absolutely gutted because i hate my glasses with a passion, but i'm determined one day i'll be wearing contacts because i feel really self-conscious with glasses on. It doesnt help that my mother is so against contact lenses she'll do anything to put me off, so i really wouldn't be surprised if she paid the guy to say that (i'm kidding, of course).

I find glasses really annoying because when i'm looking at a sheet of paper it only covers half, so half is blurry and half is not, and i'm not getting glasses that cover my face just to see a bit of paper.

I love them. It means I'm not the 'ugly' one with glasses AND a brace. Just the brace, lol. I can wear sunglasses, hair bands etc. I can emphasise my eyes with make up and know that people will actually be able to tell. Only thing I don't like is when I've had them in for too long and they get all dry and uncomfortable. Or if I get conjunctivitis and can't wear them!
I'm probably not the best person to ask right now, since I've got a bad bout of conjunctivitus and have been told to wear my glasses for the next few days. Eeek. I have friends who have never seen me in glasses, this is going to be scary. I think that because I started wearing contacts at the same time I came out of my shell more at school, I associate them with this more confident and attractive persona, and feel really crappy when I've got to wear glasses, like this week.

Having said that, I'm having a bit of a crappy time with a bleed ON my eyeball (it's foul) so I ought to do as they say. But yes - contact lenses are AMAZING :]

I found they increased my confidence quite a bit. I just plain looked like a geek with my glasses. I'm still just as geeky now, but at least I don't look quite as geeky!
