I'll be (hopefully!) starting an English degree at Leeds in 2007, so I went up to see some accommodation last Saturday.
I absolutely fell in love with North Hill Court, something about the big airy buildings, massive rooms, balconies... atmosphere. However, it is a bit of a walk and I haven't heard it mentioned much on here.

So yeah, I'd also appreciate any info anyone has to offer.

Ah YAY someone else! Me too. Cause it's the cheapest and I decided I would have to just cope if it was pooey.

So my NHC thread is small but positive. :O)

You have no idea how much better that makes me feel!

Can anyone tell me anything about this elusive, weeny, tricksy place?

Something nice, preferably?

yeah, I quite liked the look of this place. Big rooms = a definite plus. Is it really that much of a walk from campus though? and it looks like it might be pretty quiet, is that the case?

When I saw the prices for NHC, I thought "what's the catch..." but when I looked around, I couldn't see a single major flaw

Nice, spacious bedrooms, some rooms have balconies, it's on a nice lane and you can use the common room/laundry facilities at the hall right next to it, the warden loans out barbecues, and it's cheap, so people will have more money to go out! Also, it's less likely to attract snobby private school people (not saying all private school people are like that obviously, but you know what I mean) so I think I'd like the people more.

I thought the kitchens were a little pokey, and the shared bathrooms aren't ideal for anybody, but in all I really liked it... anyone else seen anything or know anything that means you really shouldn't go there?
if you suffer from claustrophobia or can feel claustrophobic in smll confined spaces then you shudnt go there

Hmm... I'm not really too claustrophobic, unless I actually can't move.

By that, do you mean because of the size of the kitchens?
just the size of the place in general . . thats my definition of "small". but obviously if you dont think u are claustrophobic, then it's not a problem

I spoke to the residential manager guy about the smaller smelly flats on the top floor. He thinks that they're probably going to be allocated as the smoking flats this year (in light of the smoking ban), so if you're not a smoker, you should get a room on one of the nice floors.
I also noticed how little NHC is mentioned on these forums/Leeds facebook groups... I wonder why.
