    Here's the dilemma, I usually do really well in course work, A's and B's, but then in the final exam I do really badly and get a D. This has happened twice and I want to know the correct way to revise Physics to get an A. I know I'm capable of it but I just don't have the right revision methods.

    Normally, I start revising 2 weeks before the exam and I cover all the past papers and the homework exercises from class. The type of questions in the textbook don't really help because they never come up in the exam. Are there any resources you could direct me to that got you an A? This is really important since I'm at a Scottish uni and next year is when the marks count towards my final degree classification.

    So what's the actual problem then? you can do the past paper questions but not the ones in the exam?

    General revision technique

    I find timeboxing is effective - see Pomodoro Technique

    The advantage is that you focus your maximum effort on one thing at a time for a manageable time chunk rather than having loads of books spread out in front of you while you have your head in your hands for hours getting nothing accomplished.
    If you achieve your goal before the end, you spend the rest of the time chunk overlearning and if you haven't achieved your goal at the end you book yourself another chunk on the same goal for later.
