I just found out I got an A in my EPQ, and although my York offer doesn't mention my EPQ is it worth contacting the department and asking them to consider lowering my entry grades because of my EPQ results?

Was your EPQ declared on your UCAS application? if so it might we worth calling up ucas to update your grade and then call York to inform them of the change. They can't take your offer away so you have nothing to loose by asking although they will probably say no.

I did include in my application so they knew i was doing one. I suppose they didnt mention it in my original offer for a reason but there's no harm in checking. I should call UCAS yeah, thanks

If it's not their standard policy, I think it's very unlikely they would change your offer grades. They know you're doing an EPQ and it's not in your offer so it's probably just not their policy. Only a small number of universities do this. They're not going to cancel your offer or anything if you email them to ask this so if you're desperate you could email them, but I would be extremely surprised if they agreed!

    Hi there,

I've just checked with the undergraduate admissions office.

We don't at present include the Extended Project in our offers although we do take them into consideration when assessing student's applications.

We would not lower a student's offer in light of a good grade in the extended project.

I hope that helps, and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Thanks,

    Helen
