If the course is run at a College rather than a university then its likely to attract more mature/local students who haven't moved away from home to study, so you might find there isn't so much of a student community outside class times so living at home you would be less likely to miss much. Also generally home can be quieter, cheaper if the commute isn't too bad, you get home comforts. On the converse side it can sometimes make it harder to meet people, especially if you aren't around campus much, if the last bus/train is home is early this makes it harder to go on nights out, if its an hour or more the commute can be exhausting & you could have to do it just for a one hour lecture or have to hang around for a long break.
