Alcohol on Licensed premises.

What is the current Law on under 18s bringing alcohol on licensed premises. Is there anything that can be done. Its an issue that has arisen at my local rugby club. Under 18s are bringing in Alcohol and i was just wondering about what happens to the license holder if someone were to find out and report it. We need to stop it but the kids reckon theres nothing we can do as the bar on the premises did not sell it to them, i think thats wrong. I have been reading the licensing act 2003 but its all very complecated.
They're very very wrong - the licensee and bar staff reserve the right to eject anyone and ban them from any bar for whatever reason (including the fact that they don't like someone). Bringing your own alcohol onto a licensed premises is illegal in the first place, let alone that they are U18.

I'm not speaking from a legal perspective here - but from my time working on bars. It's simple: you ask them to leave, you confiscate their alcohol (which you can do since it wasn't bought on the premises) and if they don't leave you call the police. The confiscation can get ugly, but it's pretty fun to take booze off people. Your licence only extends to drinking alcohol bought on the premises - if you didn't have the power to take this alcohol off people you would be in breach of licence all the time and your licensee would be in prison.

Ring the council and ask the licensing officer

Thanks i had a feeling that was the case. It's just these kids think they are right all the time and they don't like being told. The license holder is a friend of mine so i really dont want him getting into any trouble.

I said it was illegal to bring onto the premises and they said just cause you do A LEvel Law doesnt make you an expert. Thanks for this anyway i'll let people higher up in the committee than me about it.
They sound like chavs... the illegality of bringing alcohol from outside is one of the basic things you should learn as a barman. Not as a law student. It's like chucking out times and the fact that you have to give 30 minutes after closing before actually chucking people out etc. These are things everyone should know!

But yeah phone the licence authority. Doesn't your licencee know the rules anyway, seems ridiculous that he/she doesn't!
