Tips for your assessment centre interview

Morning everyone!

As many of you are applying for your first jobs, apprenticeships and more, we want to talk about those all-important tips for assessment centres.

Assessment centres test how suitable you are for a job. Over a half-a-day to a day, you’re asked to complete various tasks which assess how well you perform. These are usually tasks that can’t be performed in a traditional job interview.

They're a bit of a mystery to some people so we wanted to offer you our tips at performing well when you visit one day by day.

Tip number one:

To give a top-notch performance, you should try to adapt your abilities to the new situations thrown at you. This can be done by using your decision-making skills, teamwork and organisational skills to help you shine.

Tip number two:

2. Relax, be friendly and polite. Be very aware of your body language. Do not be aggressive or impatient.
3. Review the job description to familiarise yourself with the skills the employer is looking for.
Tip number four:

4. Demonstrate an upbeat attitude and eagerness to solve problems and be part of discussions.
5. Don’t be afraid of coming across as ambitious, your interviewer will want to see your drive and passion!
6. Make sure you remember that you are always being assessed, not just during exercises, so stay as professional as you can.
