Leeds has a better academic position than UEA, and its a really good city to spend your student life. The living costs there are pretty low when it comes to going out, but it really depends if you like the city life which is the pro and con. Also Leeds has quite a good scholarship and bursary system.

UEA does have quite a nice campus though if it is a campus university you are after. I guess the pros and cons are the usual things associated with living in campus universities and Norwich's nightlife ain't as good as Leeds. But I heard that UEA's student's satisfaction is the highest in the National Student Survey http://www1.uea.ac.uk/cm/home/services/units/mac/1.507

IMO I think you should decide whether you would like a campus university or a city university. Best of luck in choosing!
Protip: Student satisfaction means nothing.

I don't know much about Leeds, but I heard UEA has one of the most competitive creative writing courses in the country. Confirm/Deny

:ditto: That seems to be the main thing it comes down to, although obviously what you study on each course, the number of taught hours per week, lectures vs seminars, exams vs coursework, accommodation, facilities, clubs/societies and distance from home should all be considered as well.

DO NOT CHOOSE UEA. I REPEAT, DO NOT CHOOSE UEA.

Leeds definitley. Better course, better place, better degree.

If your course involves creative writing then UEA supposedly has a great creative writing department:smile:

I'm thinking Leeds at the moment.

But why do you think that of UEA?

Have you visited them both? If not, you should. UEA is a distinctive campus, which you either love or hate.
If you have seen it and liked it then that's fine, but don't decide to go there blind!
Creative writing is one of UEA's strengths, but I think that its reputation (ie most people have never heard of it or think it is an ex-poly) goes against it.

I was at UEA for a stint and I hated it. It was way too small, not enough people. Norwich was rubbish for night life and it's full of chavs and emos.

I'm choosing Leeds.

Wahey !!
that is so wrong, just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean that everyone does-I think its a good uni. but you have to visit to see if its ok for you.
oh yes and politics is an awful department-I do history and its fantastic but I did social and pollitical theory in year1 and it was awful so i can understnd you withdrawing, but UEA is great for english.
