2015 was the hottest year on record, by far

It has been confirmed that 2015 is the hottest year in the modern record, shattering 2014's record. It is also the first year to see temperatures rise higher than 1C above pre-Industrial levels, meaning that we're already halfway to the 2C limit which governments are aiming to limit temperature rises to (by 2100).

According to the UK's Met Office, 2016 may well beat 2015's record.

Mmm, last year certainly didn't feel very warm (well, up until Christmas when it was surprisingly warm for that time of year!).
Seems that certainly post millennium, the years have definitely been warming!
