Be chill, be funny, don't be thick.

That's literally it for me in terms of behaviour.

Loving/ caring
Intelligent/loves learning new things
Outgoing/open minded
Likes to spend time together but equally time alone/with friends.
Shares interests and takes interest in mine too.
Same values/goals in life
Ambitious
Enjoys romance
Enjoys travelling

That's mine personally. Everyone is different though..some people hate travelling/some people loathe romance etc etc and some people don't require 'ambition' some don't even care whether their girlfriend is employed or not etc etc.

I truly wouldn't know nor risk the foolishness of presuming - given that I've never had one

I have no idea what I want to be honest. Someone with good manners? (Do I, or is there something attractive about a certain abrasive attitude?) Someone intelligent? (But what if they're stupid and I still like them?)

I can't put into words what my ideal would be.

I guess just someone with good general education, discipline and works well as a team.

faithful
faithful, trusting and honest is pretty damn important. I've always felt us guys are screwed with this one, we can never be truly honest about how we feel because it's inconsistent with what's expected of us as men. But women can be as emotional and honest as they want and i'd prefer it if they did tbh.

I think though a girlfriend is a transition stage between singleness and marriedness so a good gf would be one that is wife material...
