Boyfriend's family wedding - don't have a clue!

My boyfriend has invited me to a family wedding in a few weeks and it sounds as if it is quite a big thing. I've met his parents already, but this will be the first time I will be faced with the entire family and so I am quite nervoue about it.

I want to create the right impression with them but I really do not know what to wear. I've only ever been to a wedding once in my life and that was when pink satiny party dresses with lots of ruffles and bows were acceptable. I'm thinking this is not the case now at all unless I wish to make them think of me as a Disney princess.

So yes, any help at all would be appreciated.
What colour are the bridesmaids wearing? (Don't match!!)
What's your colouring like/what size are you?

A nice pretty dress and a wrap would be nice.. http://www.warehouse.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=3705 - a style similar to this?

I'd say a pretty summery dress, and a wrap/shawl/pashmina incase it gets chilly, and some pretty accessories and you can't go wrong! It's also pretty , feminine and sexy whilst not being too revealing etc.

Have a look in Debenhams, Coast, Monsoon, Karen Millen, Ted Baker, and Zara.

Here's a few ideas..

Those are lovely dresses, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to stick to a budget of about £60 due to being a student :p:

I'm a size 8 and have dark brown hair and brown eyes with quite an olive complexion.

Oh dear god, I went to a wedding of one of my boyfriend's family and his mum said she had bought a lovely lacy top from a little boutique near where she lived and she thought it would look nice on me at the wedding...

It was lovely, but black :s-smilie:

Do not wear all black (what I ended up wearing) to a wedding. You look like a nutter

some of the links are to white dresses- should someone but the bride be wearing white?

Yeah, i thought that, those white dresses are gorgeous but are you 'allowed' to wear white to a wedding? :s-smilie:

I love the patterned summery ones

Thank you for the help. Some of those dresses are lovely and it's given me an idea of what I should be looking for.

Scary times trying to impress the boyfriend's family lol.
I also have a wedding coming up too.. initially i was going to wear black but i really really should not!! So i have eliminated that possibility and on the search for a new outfit.

I am also wondering if white is safe to wear at a wedding? For the guest obviously!! Warehouse have a great white dress that i know would be perfect for my figure... and its reduced.
I think its safer not to to be honest... answering my own question. Thankyou for the accessories tip though
