My husband is at college doing a full time engineering course. He is entitled to 3300 out of the 4200 for the tuition fee loans. I am also a student and we are a low income family. However, on the student finance application page he can't seem to apply for any other grants or loans to help with living costs etc. Is this correct? Does he have to wait to start uni before he can apply? Cos I've read that college students can also apply for maintenance loans etc.

The 24+ loan covers tuition fees, not maintenance. There are no maintenance loans for pre-university college students.
