Help needed on 20 mark question on the topic education
Evaluate the view that the role of education is to select and allocate individual to specific roles(20)
So for this you'll want to talk about specialist skills (Durkheim), role allocation (Parsons, which was built on by Davis and Moore - criticise for a circular argument), link this to meritocracy for functionalism
for Marxism you'll need to talk about how education is a means of preparing a pool of unskilled labour for work e.g. bowles and gintis hidden curriculum, it being an ISA, etc.
Not a full essay plan but it is a place to start!
