Fundng for PGCE Wales .. confused!
Hi there knowledgeable people,
I would like to ask you a question, but if you might indulge me a little background:
Qualifications wise, I have:
GCSE English Lang (B) Lit (B) Maths (B) Biology (B)
ACCESS to Nursing
BSc (hons) Biology (1st) 2007
MSc Environmental Conservation Management
PhD in biological research
My partner works full time, we live together in our own home, we have a 3 year old girl.
I have been staying at home with our child since my partner went back to start her new career (and I was completing my PhD write up/corrections).
I would love to get into teaching, and am struggling to find the best route here in Wales. The PGCE seems attractive, but the price is prohibitory on a single salary. I have (inconclusively) been advised that as I will living at our home, and we have a child (and being a mature student studying for a PGCE) that I might be able to claim grants and/or awards towards the cost of the PGCE?
If this is the case which ones and who do I ask?
The various student finance websites are less than helpful (or I've just missed things).
