Zargabaath I would have been embarrassed and deleted that, as well.
It wasn't polished, I couldn't word it well enough. You get the intention behind it though

I'm convinced Avril Lavigne is a vampire, she never actually did grow up. She looks as good now as she did years ago. Shame I can't say the same about her music.

I can't stand this attitude myself, I hate the idea of more laws being passed on us because people are morons. We lose freedom because they can't live properly. These are the same people who'll sit around on their arse until they're like 28 then start moaning how unfair society is when they see others their age actually taking their life into their own hands.
Well she is still only 31 so she hasn't started to visibly 'age' yet lol. But yeah I agree her music is **** now, I only like certain songs. And omfg she actually LOOKS like a vampire with those two vampire teeth she has but she is still hot

Asking for nudes is a delicate subject, especially on a thread such as this :yep:

Well, you called people who send nudes sluts and you called people who receive nudes perverts. That suggests a deal of antipathy here and came off to me as slightly bitter.

And saying that people who send nudes are sluts does not strike me as an argument, so I am somewhat lost as to what I should rebut?
If you just didn't understand my argument, all you had to do was ask me to expand or reword the post. The main argument is that these girls should own their actions. No one forced them to post nudes. The fact that they were willing to do so with somebody who is clearly not so connected with them as to beam them to the world, is telling to me.

They can cry about it all they like, but at the end of the day: they sent the photos and left the bloke. Good job, I guess?

Of course the left will be in power again, I seriously doubt any political party are going to be re-elected twice at the moment.

OP I seriously hope you are okay and getting the help that you need, it is clearly a distressing time despite the various opinions on this thread. And whether it should be law or not, revenge porn is illegal and you have every right to take action in whatever way you want to. I wish you the best, and I hope that your next partner has a lot more respect for you because you did not and never will deserve what has happened.

I'm yet to hear a good argument against my contention that your comments about empathy are a shame tactic, since they have no universal basis. Am I to conclude that you agree, given this answer?
So you're saying that I'm wrong to accuse her of lacking empathy?

Since she agrees that its an immoral thing to do, yes. But that's not what I asked. You're attempting to put me on the back foot to avoid answering a difficult question - one that inevitably will have to end in you conceding that your comments were trying to shame somebody on the forum. After you talked about bullying, anxiety, etc. earlier I find this very hypocritical. Don't you agree?

Oh okay, yeah I see what you mean, but I wasn't trying to shame anyone. That may have been how you interpreted it, but that wasn't my intention.

OP is not a victim and the 'distibutor' (rofl, is he the head of Sony Pictures?) should not be punished as OP has sent him those pictures it is now his property and he is free to share it with whomever he likes.
Decide for yourself whether that shows a lack of empathy.

I earlier stated that appealing to empathy is silly:

For those who lack empathy it serves as nothing more than an empty statement and for those who do have empathy it's clearly wrong and an attempt to shame somebody.

Law shouldn't be empathetic. It should be mutually beneficial. I'd argue that a ban on revenge porn is clearly mutually beneficial (assuming you also would like to send nude photographs and them not go public) and this is a good argument. "It's wrong" or "think about the person you're trying to hurt" is not.

I'm pretty sure if can be made to fall under some kind of sexual harassment law etc. That dude that ran a revenge porn site in america got done for it recently.

I don't really want to live in your crappy world where all my interactions with other humans has to be a like a business transaction and I have to sigh a contract and everything is someone's property.

I don;t normally sue this phrase but this is the height of victim blaming :/ Relationships with people inherent involve sharing personal stuff, that includes photos. You could be in a relationship you think it for the long run then it all goes to **** and your ex becomes a massive **** and uploads sex tapes you made onto the internet. I don;t see why we shouldn't be able to punish knob heads who do that.
Absolutely, it is quite simple philosophically to say OK you are the person in this photo therefore you get to decide how it's used in the future. By sending it to someone yourself the automatic assumption is you authorise them to keep it in perpetuity but not to redistribute it. It's the exact same principle we use for piracy but apparently people don't even own copyright over photos of their own bodies :/

    Yeah, I read that before.

It's not an appeal or an argument, most likely, it's just an emotional response to what Driftaway was saying. Although I agree that this leads to messy and pointless debates, I think she's already got the message that you dislike guilt-tripping.

No, I have clearly stated that my personal opinion is that it is wrong of OP's ex to publish her nudes, I even called him the scum of the Earth so again, the lack of reading skills is astonishing.

I just have enough brain cells to realize that just because something is morally wrong doesn't mean that it should be illegal, just like cheating on your girlfriend isn't illegal either despite the fact that it is a wrong thing to do. You can't just ban everything because it's 'wrong'. Most of you in here completely lack common sense and just spout emotional bull**** with no logical basis.

There wasn't a response and posting was hectic at the time so figured maybe it wasn't noticed. I won't go on at her any more.

I find assertion of moral beliefs a difficult subject. There seems no stable ground in which to do so. It may seem ironic that I assert my distaste for moral assertion but I think the difference is one assumes the presumption of their superiority (at least in fibre/spirit) and the other assumes and appeals to no such presumption and so it seems the only correct argument we can make. We frown upon overt pressure to give to charity. Why is this different?

Nonetheless, this probably is another topic I should stop discussing before detailing too far into the thread.
