As english literature, need help on a Great Gatsby question Watch

    explain using textual evidence how three events or situations in the novel have symbolic significance, I've already written about the parties and the american dream but I can't think of any others 😕

    You could also write about consumerism (Gatsby - changing his old self with his new self [ there's a critical quote in the introduction by Guy Reynolds about this ] / not being able to fit into upper class society despite having money too / emphasis on technological advances [ the use of light e.g. the lights at the party, cars headlights, lack of light in the valley of ashes etc. are good things to talk about ] ), the lack of morals (I believe J.T Eckleberg's eyes are the main focus for the moral part) which is prevalent throughout the novel
