I have heard about changes made to AS Levels and a levels awhere as and a level pare separate qualifications.

Though this is not the case for a few specific subjects.

If I flopped AS levels and get an okish grade for a level can i still go to good universities?

For people starting sixth form next year, A2 predicted grades are what your application will be based on.

Ice-cube Not as important anymore but still hold a heavy weighting it's mostly and you make your application before you get you A-Levels so your A2 results won't really help unless you go through clearing or adjustment :yep.

Actually some schools still do the AS qualification so it really depends on the school and A2 predicted grades aren't completely reliable without AS results

That's rather interesting, as my sixth form doesn't offer AS qualifications except Maths(which is compulsory if you don't take it at A2)

My sixth form does AS level exams this year for all subjects. For example, I took bio, chem, maths and economics. For bio chem and econ all the test we do this year are for the as level qualification.0% of the modules count toward out a level grades at the end of A2.Maths is the only exception.
