    Hi all,
I'm currently in the first year of my A-levels and I am interested in applying for Medicine in September 2016. I am going to start volunteering in a local charity shop but currently I don't have any experience working in a hospital. (I have done one week's work experience in a pharmacy- but nothing in a hospital). So I was just wandering if any of you think it is possible to get clinical work experience in the summer for maybe 1 week or so or is it too late now. I know its a long shot but I feel that I don't stand a chance without having any clinical work experience. If not maybe there is a chance of volunteering at hospitals- but would that would be useful?

I got work experience in year 11 by just emailing departments at my local hospital. I was able to get some at the paediatric department pretty quickly. Have you tried this?

I didn't complete the work experience because I decided against medicine but it would be very good on your PS. Good luck

Either that or working in an elderly home or somewhere with disabled people. I was talking to the Careers Supervisor at my school on an open day and they said that's something they appreciate. Good luck haha

I have work experience at UCLH (gynaecology department). The consultant I'm doing it with is a family friend so she was able to get it for me. The best bet is to ask a family friend/member to help you out or put in a good word for you.
