I am currently studying a BTEC, a person who I know in another college different to mine is studying the same BTEC which is equivalent to 3 A levels. He has been copying another students coursework who had done the same course 2 years ago. Currently he has been attaining Distinctions as he has been copying, as this is unfair to most people studying the course, will he get away?

    Thanks

He might get away in college but not in the workplace.

In my college they check for copyright material. One time, we had to learn about different legislations and similar stuff, there we had to write about copyright.

Well, some people in my group did well with that, but after, teacher had a conversation with them about "copyright."

I'm surprised that he's not been caught already, unless this previous student went to a different college, then it'd be difficult to copyright check.

My college do plagiarism checks on every assignment they take in, a good handful of people have already been caught and warned...

If he doesn't get caught soon then he WILL get caught if he continues this into university or the workplace, this coursework isn't just for the benefit of getting graded, it's for his own personal knowledge to prepare him for higher education or the workplace.

Well he goes to the same college as the person who went to that (college 2 years ago) he is currently copying off him, a bit unfair as he is getting distinctions for nothing and I am working hard all the time even until the night and im only getting passes and merits. While he is out with his mates all the time.

You can report him or just let him be. If teachers haven't noticed, they might have done it on purpose, or they just don't care?

Take into consideration that if you report him, he might and probably will fail at the end of the course.

Don't let it drag you down, you can still do your distinctions like I usually do, and you will be content from the work you have produced. I would suggest focusing on your own work.
