I've been in a similar position before, except mine was for 2 years rather than 8. What I ended up doing was eventually telling her, although this made me feel lighter, it made no difference whatsoever. Dude, it's obvious she doesn't like you at all. My one didn't like me either and it's unfortunate. You can tell her for the sake of it, but it won't help you get over her! Believe me, you'll just continue liking her. So what I eventually ended up doing was cutting ties with her, like completely no communication. I know this sounds hard, but dude why would you want to be 'just friends' with a girl you want to make love to. You're not progressing with her and each interaction you'll have with her will just become more and more frustrating. Having her around you, and all the other cues related to her will just make you like her more and more. Believe it or not, completely cutting ties does eventually help you get over the person.

It's time you moved on. 8 years mate. Life's too short.

loool Thank you this literally had got to be the best answer I encountered. You know what though I'm going to start trying to get confident before telling her. I'm going to force myself to talk to her face to face as much as I can instead of cutting communication, and I think I'm just going to start to do things that will make it obvious that I like her especially in front of her parents etc.. and I'll work a lot on my confidence it's a hard thing to do but it might actually work and I'll see what ends up happening.

What instances so far in your life, have motivated you to act quickly or spontaneously? Are you capable of confronting issues at all?
