I am still wondering which University to go to I wanted to know which of the mentioned cities are more fun and good for learning as well as socialising. What are they like basically. I currently live in a small town that is rubbish with nothing to do so really want to make sure I choose the right place to study. Alsp bedford is an option too

Manchester is the best of the three IMO, plenty to do, a good mix of people, not snobby and everyone is really friendly and up for a laugh.

Leicester is abit run down but the people are all really nice and friendly and they do the best currys going.

IMo Nottingham is a shithole and I would never go there but some people rave about it. Campus is really really nice for the most part but I find the city quite hostile and have heard some really shocking stories about it.

I really rate Leicester as a student city, it's SO cheap and I still go back there sometimes for nights out...

Don't go near Nottingham, it's a total shithole. Don't really know Manchester that well but it has a pretty good reputation for night-life etc.

Leicester is underrated, Manc may have too much crime some areas and also attitude that's pretentious, they reckon they are more friendly but don't think so. Plus the Indian culture in Leicester, and food is great. It's also got a quick rail link direct to London if that bothers you.

If you end up in Nottingham make sure to take the Red Arrow and spend most of your time in superior Derby instead

Manchester is definitely the best. It's the biggest of the 3 so if you're looking to always have something to do then it's Manchester, it has the biggest student population in Europe. Great nightlife, shopping, activities, the music scene is unrivalled. Nottingham really didn't impress me when I went, quite run down. Also I don't know about Leicester's curries but Manchester has curry mile so not sure how could beat that!

Leicester is a cesspit too.I'd go as far north as I can if I were the OP.

Manchester is full of Asians and Muslims.

Manchester. DEFINITELY Manchester. Although true that Manchester may have more crime in areas than Nottingham, having had a lot of nights out in both Manchester and Nottingham, I've seen WAY less trouble in Manchester. I assume because it is more spread out it is easier to get areas where similar people hang out, whereas in Nottingham everyone is kind of piled on top of each other! Nottingham has shops, don't get me wrong, but it's not got anywhere near the level Manchester does. Also Manchester is much more accessible, It might not seem it but Nottingham is a bit of a b**** to get to on the train, which tens to be the main way to get around for students.

I don't really know a lot about Leicester, but my sister lives there and doesn't speak particularly highly of it, so she is currently trying to move to..............Manchester coincidentally.

Although obviously I have no idea about your course. To be honest, a city is only part of the uni experience and students can have a great time in places like St. Andrews. So I probably wouldn't dwell on it too much. If the course is right I'm sure any of those cities would be fun enough.

There's nothing wrong with Asians or Muslims. I don't know why you would say that.

Nottingham is the one I am most familiar with. It doesn't have anything that the other two don't have, and theirs is usually better.

Manchester is much bigger and has some very dodgy areas. Leicester is going to seem huge and, yes, Leicester's curry mile beats Manchester's.

I haven't been to Leicester, Bedford or Nottingham (have passed Nott on the coach, though - seemed alright, I guess ), but Manchester is one of my favourite cities and I couldn't reccomend it enough!

Seriously - it has all the perks of London without the ridiculous cost of living! It has an amazing nightlife and, in terms of learning, it has some great museums, too!

Also, you're a forty minute train ride away from Liverpool and Liverpool's great. Not that I'm biased or anything.

    Never been to Leicester.

I've lived in both Manchester and nottingham. Manchester has more shops, bigger town centre, more clubs etc that are better than Notts. Notts has plenty to offer though I wouldn't call it a **** hole at all. If you are looking for best nightlife or shopping etc the go with Manchester.
