I have recently received an unconditional offer from the University of Northampton to study psychology! It's my local university and I don't feel comfortable leaving home at the moment...However I'm unsure of whether I should accept it.

I'm predicted BBB in my A Levels (I got BCC last year) in psychology, biology and chemistry. Would going to Northampton hinder any job prospects? Would I have more trouble becoming a psychologist if that's what I intend to do?

    Thanks!

If you really do not want to leave home, maybe this would be a good choice. Have you considered all your other choices to see if maybe you could come home at weekends? Your timetable of lectures may mean you could be free on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning, giving you a long weekend. I assume you visited Northampton and if you were happy and the students you chatted to were content with the course, you should be ok.

I have never heard of, or seen, somebody not get a Psychology based role (Assistant Psychologist, IAPT, Doctoral training, qualified post) based on where they went to university. You can never account for the biases individual selectors or interviewers have, but they can range from anything to anything. Within the research world, the 'prestige' of your universities may count for more, but I don't actually know.

Generally they look at your degree classification (2:1 / 1st) and that you have GBC, beyond that, your degree is not that relevant.
