I was thinking about Bristol as my insurance choice. i really like the City, and the research they do there. One of our neighbours was there doing physics though and dropped out of the course, very upset. No idea why. What do current undergrads think of the course? What is the workload like? How many contact hours do you get? Do you get small tutorial groups? Is there anything we should know?!

https://unistats.direct.gov.uk/Subje...eturnTo/Search gives a purely data based answer to your questions - click on each of the tabs to get more information about each area (for example the study tab contains information about contact hours as well as the degree classifications awarded and drop outs after 1 year https://unistats.direct.gov.uk/subje...eturnTo/Search )

I am interested in this too- going to a post offer day on 10th so hope to find out more then. Unistats are good but why does the physics dept get such low ratings in student satisfaction surveys? Looks like the student union is low rated ( not a big deal for me - i reckon sociable people will find a way of having a good time...) But more worried about the possible lack of support/ feedback on work from academic staff....
    Anyone have any idea?

The best thing is to ask them about it at the visit day. This survey was of students who finished last year so there is plenty of time for them to address any problems before you start - but if they act like it isn't a problem or something they're worried about or working on then it's definitely a cause for concern
