    Russell group is a club of vice chancellors from universities that are large and do a lot of research. It has no relationship with quality of teaching or student experience but they tend to be old, established big universities in large cities that a lot of people have heard of.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Group

    The Russell Group states that its objectives are to:
    • lead the research efforts of the United Kingdom;
    • maximise the income of its member institutions;
    • attract the best staff and students to its member institutions;
    • create a regulatory environment in which it can achieve these objectives by reducing government interference; and
    • identify ways to co-operate to exploit the universities' collaborative advantage
    If that's something you're looking for in a university then go for it but don't use it as a shortcut - RG membership isn't based on anything that has relevance to undergraduate students - especially for business and management degrees where work experience and contacts with business are often more useful than university prestige.
