Who's going to the Southampton Physics applicant day?

I have been invited to attend a University of Southampton, Physics department open day. I have the 6th February and 17th February available. I was just interested if there was anyone here planning to go on one of those dates? Also can someone please tell me when it ends lol I lost my leaflet and can't find one online.

Hey, I went to one last Saturday (30th Jan). It ends officially at 5PM but the last hour-ish is just tea and biscuits so you can leave before then if you have a long drive home or something~

Is there an informal interview given with the admissions tutor or something like that?

Not at all! The day went: tour from students; lunch (we got a £6 voucher to spend at a cafe; apparently the parents got a buffet); talk about physics in general from the admissions tutor; talks from different physics specialities (astro, theoretical etc.) plus a brief lab tour; a laser light show (the fire alarm went off due to the smoke they filled the room with to see the lasers and we never got to see the end of it =_= ); tour of the accommodation; and finally tea and biscuits.

Although we did all have name stickers so I suppose if any of the professors particularly liked/disliked you they could note it down, there was way too many of us for them to do any sort of assessment.

Thank you, much appreciated. I am assuming I can leave during the tea break, if so it wouldn't hurt to book a train ticket during the time?

Yeah, you'll be fine, we skipped the tea altogether because my dad wanted to start driving back. You might miss out on a bit of networking with the professors but if your socialising skills are anything like mine that's probably for the best

I doubt the networking is important but thanks for the info much appreciated . Have you received an offer from Southampton and what other unis have you got replies from?

No prob~
No offer from Southampton yet (I heard they're behind on giving out offers compared to other universities, but idk, I only went two days ago). So far I've only heard from Bristol (AAA) and Cardiff (also AAA even though I swear their typical offer was like AAB/ABB on their website, they were meant to be my insurance). And I'm still awaiting to hear back from Exeter (went to an interview a while ago) and Birmingham (keep sending me emails telling me "we're still considering your application" as well as Southampton, obviously.
Who else have you applied/recieved an offer for?
Applied the week before the deadline and am still waiting on Southampton and Nottingham. I received offers from Bath, Warwick (Both A*AA) and Leicester (AAB even though they offer ABB and sometimes even BBB like wtf?) I think I might take a year out after exams. I'll firm Bath and insure either Southampton or Nottingham, not sure yet.
