Ive been out of work since 2011. Okay so i did go to college then uni but i havent had a job since then.

Since leaving uni in december 2014 i've been looking for work. I couldnt get anything. I finally got a job at my partner's place but almost immediately I got some serious health issues and couldnt work for a few months.

Im okayish now and want to look for work when we move to our new home. But how do I make myself seem more employable? I know how to write a Cv and covering letter with skills etc but how do I justify my 'jobhunting' period? Because I'd sound pretty crap if I said I was unsuccessful for that long and then if I say I had health issues they might not want me either!

It's a tricky one but I doubt they will ask (unless youre applying for something in which your health may be of importance) but in case they do just say the truth but try to imply that you're okay now and have been cleared etc. In other words don't make it sound negative....

Did you do anything extra during your time off that can be seen as pro active?

You don't need to mention how many clients you have, you can just say something like "Ran a business doing X" and mention the skills you gained from this.

It might be a good idea to look for some volunteering. This will help you get a recent reference (which is essential when job hunting) and give you something to put on your CV and talk about in interviews.
