Hi everyone, what are the nearer accommodations to the Michael Sadler building and the centre for translation studies?Which are nearer to the gym and could anyone tell us when are those off-peak hours?I have EDS and swimming will definitely help with the pain.
Probably the accommodations closest to the Union would also count as being close to Michael Sadler, relatively, because there is no accommodation situated right next to that building, I believe. Charles Morris, Ellerslie Global Residence, Henry Price and Lyddon Hall come to mind. Charles Morris and Ellerslie are closer.

If I'm thinking of the right place then all previously mentioned residences are also close to the Centre for Translation Studies. The nearest accommodation to the gym would probably be Central Village (5 min), followed by Charles Morris (7 min), and the others I mentioned before are more than 10min further away.

Off-peak hours for the swimming pool and fitness suite in the Edge are 6:30AM - 12PM, and 2PM - 4PM weekdays. All the other facilities, like the courts are available at any time as long as you book. Not sure how the times change during weekends.

I can imagine that you'd be pretty likely to get a place to be honest. There are 640 places and with shared bathrooms I can't imagine it being that popular. I've certainly never met someone who lives there!
My child lives there, not a lot of people's first choice but actually a really nice place. Very very sociable, nice secure green setting, heart of Headingley, a very good choice in terms of cost, location and social life.

Not the poshest of accommodation and no en-suite.

Which accommodation is best for a radiography student? I'm torn between James Baillie and the tannery ! Like everyone else I am looking for a social atmosphere the distance isn't too much of a problem but I'm not going to Oxley or lupton. Any advice ???
Unlikely you will get James Baillie. Healthcare Students are encouraged to choose Lupton, Oxley, The Tannery due to being placed with other healthcare students, massively beneficial when you are on block placement and working/sleeping/socialising strange patterns.

People on my child's course who ignored the Accommodation for Healthcare Students leaflet and picked places like Charles Morris and Central Village ended up in Oxley.

Hey if anyones currently staying in Central Village or Leodis Residences and doesn't mind posting picture that would be great as I'm having trouble deciding between the two? Or just your experiences staying in these halls?

Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation for physics students? Self catered and ideally an en suite. Also, if you have any photos that would be useful.

There isn't really any specific halls they go for but central village and Henry price are probably closest to where you will have lecture and not too far from town either

I know physicists that are in liberty dock, central village, tannery, Henry price, oxley, lupton, Charles Morris, leodis so we're spread across most of the accommodations

Hey, I live in sentinel currently and it has the reputation of being one of the quietest accommodations there is all student accommodations are obviously 'noisy' to an extent and it will depend on your flat mates as well. But most weekdays it's fine Leodis is supposedly more 'social'

I was discussing oxley with a girl on my course the other day. She said she hates it :/ might depend on the person though.

But oxley is very far from campus (you'd theoretically have to get the bus every day into lectures) apparently the nearest shop is a 40 minute walk away, and apparently it's 'dead' as fines are handed out for noise and apparently even watching a film too loud can get you into trouble.

That being said, if it wasn't for the location that'd have suited me fine

Ah really? That's giving me second thoughts then, the price and appearance were the main reasons for choosing it. Where are you?

Yeah price seems to be the main reason, a lot of people who don't get their first choice end up in Oxley, and it's about an hour walk to uni :/

I'm at Sentinel Towers, there are pictures somewhere in this thread of my room I picked the cheapest en-suite that wasn't miles away!

Oh really? Sentinel was 2nd on my list. I really like the look of Lyddon on the Open Day but I want self catered. Which ones do your mates like the most?

Most of my friends are international students who chose private halls I have a friend in the Tannery (right opposite sentinel) and she likes it there, it's much much bigger than sentinel, and they have much nicer kitchens...but I think our bedrooms are slightly nicer and the bathrooms to an extent.

Central village and Charles Morris always get raved about, but they are super super expensive. I guess part of being a student is you have to make some sacrifices at least in second year you'll have way more choice ^.^
