This question is on the chemistry of transition metal chemistry/ d-block chemistry

"The element that has atoms with an average mass of 8.64 X 10^-23

The mark scheme shows that they have multiplied this number by Avogadro's constant. Can somebody please explain.

The individual atom by itself has the aforementioned mass. Its molar mass is given by 6*10^23 times as much, because that's how many atoms there are in a MOLE. The value is 52, therefore chromium is the answer!
