My parents don't know the difference between discussion and arguing. I talk calmly to then when I want to discuss things but within 30 seconds my mum starts yelling if she doesn't like what I'm saying. I used to yell back but over the last year I've tried still talking calmly when she's yelling but it doesn't work, she still yells. This yelling causes my dad to either start calling me or telling me to piss off. This is when I get angry and usually start shouting back then my dad resorts to physical violence if it carries on long enough.

I feel I have a right to talk about things calmly, everyone else discusses things, this is why I don't leave the room when my mum starts yelling as I feel Im right to have my say. She blames me for her yelling, saying that I wind her up but I will just be talking about something normally :/.

Just wanted advice. I always tell my mum that I'm not arguing I'm discussing but nothing works.

That is a tricky one. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things. I think staying calm is going to be key. Are there particular topics that tend to cause you to argue? Have you tried talking to her when she is calm about why things always descend into an argument?
