Tell them you have got replies from them then? What difference will it make to them?

Yeah, stupid parents.
Personally I'd just accept the Manchester offer now. There's not much to prove, and there's potentially more to lose if you wait. You want to go Manchester, so ensure it now.

Phone up your other unis! Tell them your result, offer to send a copy of your results slip if they want, and see what they say. If you've missed the offer, they're likely to make you wait until August when they can see how everyone else has done anyway.

I don't think what UWE did is legal and they've now given Gloucester Dancer an interview, following which they'll issue either an offer or rejection, so I doubt Manchester would do that to you. But if you've missed any of your conditional offers, they may well keep you waiting until August to see how everyone else does and that would obviously be problematic for things like accommodation, so since you want to go to Manchester anyway, just reply now. This may sound harsh, but take advantage of your mum not being here to influence your decision or make you feel bad about it.

Do you think I should just send an email simply saying 'my deadline is June 5th'? From the tone of the email Manchester sent me, it sounds as if they think my deadline is tomorrow or something...do universities actually know when each person's deadline is? I hope Manchester know cos mine is not tomorrow but if they think it is and I haven't replied then they might withdraw my offer. I just want another week or two, because I can.

Yeah, just send them an email telling them when your deadline is. They're probably assuming it's tomorrow because it is for most people who applied before the deadline.

I think you are worrying too much. If you have a reply deadline of June 5, you have a reply deadline of June 5. The email is just an effort to sway your choice in selecting Manchester, nothing more. Your initial response is a bit awkward; I'd just respond something along the lines of "While Manchester has continued to remain my first choice, I would like to ensure I make as informed a choice as possible and believe some additional time before the June 5 deadline will help put my reservations associated with the general nature of making such an important decision to rest. Thank you for your email and understanding." No need to make it more lengthy or discuss other offers or provide more information- they should understand a university decision isn't always simple.

Reply to manchester. But keep it formal. None of this "don't worry" stuff or in-depth explanations about your mother. Just state the situation - that you're waiting to hear about possible conditional offers from other universities and that replying early to manchester would interfere with that.

Just tell them you are happy with the offer but need a little more time to weigh up your choices before making a decision.

Simple as.

lol manchester are funny.

Yeah, they sure are...Thanks for your advice everyone! I sent an email saying, in a nutshell, that I needed more time but Manchester remained my first choice. Hopefully things are fine now.
