I know how to increase the size of letters in latex by using \huge etc but is there a way to increase the size of mathematical symbols ?because the \large or \huge doesn't work in math mode.

Do you want the whole document to be enlarged, or big formulas and normal text?

If you want slightly larger fonts you can say

\documentclass[a4paper, 11pt]{article} or
\documentclass[a4paper, 12pt]{article}.

If you want them much larger you can use the geometry package.

\documentclass[a4paper, 12pt]{article}
\usepackage[mag=1500, truedimen]{geometry}

\begin{document}
Here is a document with a magnification of 1500. The font-size is therefore 18pt.
I created it with the geometry package.
$\int x^{2}dx = x^{3}/3 + c.$
\end{document}
