How many courses are chosen when applying to Uni?

In addition to their major I'd like to know how many courses the average person undertakes when applying to Uni?

In the UK we take modules which, when combined, form a degree. These modules are worth X credits depending on their difficulty and length and you typically need 120 credits for each of the three years of a standard undergraduate degree. Each named course (such as Law) will have a number of modules which are compulsory and a number that may be prerequisites for other modules you may want to study later. It is common for students to be able to choose perhaps one or two modules outside of their subject each year, but you would need to satisfy any stated prerequisites for these modules. When studying Law, there is a great amount of necessary information you have to cover so it is not uncommon for people to study predominantly law-focused modules.

Our system is different to the US, for example.
