Actually laughed out loud reading some of the comments. Holy ****. Imagine being so thick you go through the logic of:

regressive taxes increasing / progressive taxes decreasing > middle class getting hammered / remain oblivious to the fact that the working class and poor are also getting hammered > therefore paupers must be gaining > Tories are lefties.

    :rofl::rofl:

Any Tories here who happen to agree with this bizarre theory? I'd love to hear from you! Hahahahaha

Let's let everyone in and we can all benefit from "diversity" - any native working class that object = racist aka Blairism, Cameron continues it

In reality the political elite care only about themselves. Anyone voting Conservative expecting real conservative needs to have a think.

The level of political misunderstanding needed to think Tories are left-wing makes me want to slam my head into the wall repeatedly.

TBF they're not left wing but they're not Conservatives either for the most part- the conservatives are generally classical liberals with some libertarian elements and some centrists or pragmatists.

Old Tories were generally aristocratic, paternalist and protectionist, New Tories are generally bourgeoisie, liberal and capitalist.

Current Tories (aka Thatcherite) are literally robber barons, their entire life philosophy and social class is based on profit over substance.

Old Tories believed in improving the welfare of their communities, at least to prevent social disorder.

Peter Hitchens has made this claim before. Certainly compared to American right wingers the british tories are a great deal more centrist, so if you are on the far right then, in comparative terms, I guess you could see the tories as left-wing.

The Labour party to me are the most confused of all, a pro working class party that promotes capitalist institutions like the EU and mass immigration aimed at displacing precisely those people.

There's two models for the EU - a socialist and a classical liberal model and at the moment it's a compromise between the two.

There's plenty of left wing reasons to support the EU whether it's greater protection to workers rights, environmental and business regulation (standards etc) as well as states being able to work together to tackle big business ( such as hopefully what will occur with Google).

There is a reason why so many thatcherites and libertarians are opposed to the EU and immigration isn't necessarily one of them- as even Dan Hannan has admitted immigration change will be me globe in brexit.

Daily Mail writers are just scared that we are 10% into another recession which began in April 2015. They know that the middle class are going to be in the cross hairs soon because the Tories have been unsuccessful at pushing more austerity at the working poor and disabled.

I imagine a lot of Tories are going to shift to UKIP and try and influence the Kippers to be harder on welfare than the Tories. Could happen after all UKIPs 2010 manifesto leaflet described disabled people as "Parasites".

Be warned Kippers I still have the link to that leaflet so don't deny it else reality will come back and haunt you.

With Cameron in charge, it's hard to know where the 'Conservative' party is on the political spectrum.

The modern day Conservative Party is a complete joke, and successive leaders (Heath onwards) have destroyed the name of a once great (and patriotic) party. Major and Cameron the main culprits in my lifetime.

Could you have imagined Baldwin or Churchill running around Europe with a political begging bowl seeking permission to change their own benefit laws?

It's sad to see a once-great party end up like this.

Wow. I'd love to see that. I actually backed UKIP in 2010. What a sorry state of affairs I was in back then
